On May 30, 2018, on the basis of the NSC «Tairov IVaW» France’s Day of Education and Science in Ukraine has passed.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the French Embassy in Ukraine, the NMC «Agroosvit», the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine and the Odessa region, the Odessa Regional State Administration, experts of the EU Project «Support for the development of the geographical indications system in Ukraine», assistants of people’s deputies of Ukraine and specialists of winemaking enterprises of various ownership forms, mass media. The event also attended representatives of institutions and other structures of agricultural education in France and Ukraine, namely:

The event was opened by the director of the NSC «Tairov IVaW», academician of NAAS Vyacheslav Vlasov. He congratulated the participants of the meeting, described the problems and prospects of the viticulture and winemaking industry of Ukraine and its scientific support, as well as acquainted those present with the history and present of the NSC «Tairov IVaW».

The event continued with an information message with the presentation «Internship in France and its impact on the scientific career» by Yulia Bulaeva, Head. Department of Ecology of Grapes NSC «Tairov IVaW».

In the framework of the event, guests also visited accredited in the system ISO 17025 chemical and analytical laboratory of the wine-making department, the Museum of the History of Viticulture and Wine Industry, and got acquainted with the fund of rare books and innovative scientific and technical developments of the NSC «Tairov IVaW».

Later on, bilateral meetings were held between the institutions and other structures of agricultural education in France and Ukraine (establishing contacts, discussing future bilateral projects).

The second part of the event was extended a seminar for winemakers «French experience in wine industry: organization of industry, introduction of a system of geographical indications, commercialization, quality requirements for wine» organizeg by the French Embassy in Ukraine in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine with the support of the Odessa Odesa Chamber of Commerce and Industry  and NSC «Tairov IVaW». Moderator: Nicolas Perrin, Agricultural Advisor, Embassy of France in Ukraine.

At the seminar were heard reports:

• «French experience in the wine sector, marketing of wine from small producers» – Stefan BADE, ELP lecturer, Bordeaux;
• «About the state and prospects of development of the wine-growing and wine-making industry of Odessa region» – Ivan Petriv, Head of the Agrarian Policy Department of the Odessa Regional State Administration;
• «Technological potential of grape varieties of new selection of NSC «Tairov IVaW» in the winemaking» – Alexander Pashkovsky, Head Department of Winemaking NSC «Tairov IVaW»;
• «Increasing the value of wine production by introducing a system of geographical indications» – Lidia Yershikhina, national expert of the «European Technical Assistance» project, is dedicated to supporting the development of the system of geographical indications in Ukraine;
• «New in the national legislation on the wine industry» – Mikhail Ryzak, assistant to the people’s deputy of Ukraine Andriy Vadatursky.

Discussion of reports and direct informal communication of the seminar participants allows to expect in the near future the expansion of cooperation between the scientific and business structures of both countries.

Summarizing the results, it can be safely noted that such measures will contribute to raising the level of training of specialists for agriculture, the introduction of a system of geographical indications in the wine-growing and wine-growing sector of Ukraine and the strengthening of friendly relations between Ukraine and France.
